Correction Detail

The advancement in paint correction in the last few years has been nothing short of amazing. The new machine, pad and polishing liquids technologies have given detailers unprecedented time-savings and abilities to achieve near perfect results. We believe our GlossWerk Correction Detail should reflect these advancements and be more flexible and as such pass these benefits on to the client. Removing the rigid choice between a two stage minor correction and a three stage full correction is key. Our promise is to work with you and ascertain what level of correction you need. We will aim to achieve your goals in the most effective and efficient way.  Communication is key in this correction detail. From the first test spot through compounding stages and finally refining stages we will keep you fully informed and also offer you the choice of how to proceed at each stage. Ultimately you will get the results you want knowing that your budget has always been carefully considered.

Please note that every vehicle’s paint is unique and for that reason, achievable results can vary from our guidelines. Whilst we will always strive to overachieve on our processes sometimes due to problematic paint or lack of clearcoat this may not be possible. In this case, further consultation will be required with the client to progress the detail to the satisfaction of both parties.

Correction Detail Full Process

  • GlossWerk Foundation Detail undertaken.
  • Full visual paint inspection followed by PDG (Paint Depth Gauge) readings taken and documented. All dents, stone chips and paint damage that can’t be addressed with our Correction Detail recorded.
  • The vehicle is then protected with the combined use of low tack masking tape and polythene sheeting. This protects sensitive areas from both the polishing process and associated residue.
  • Test spots are conducted on the paint to ascertain the best possible combination of polish and pad to gain the desired results for the finish.
  • An initial compounding stage is undertaken to quickly remove a high percentage of all defects.
  • Panel wipe down using Gyeon Prep followed by a visual inspection with Scangrip lighting.
  • If necessary secondary compounding/ intensive polishing stage is undertaken.
  • Secondary panel wipe and visual inspection.
  • Paint refining stage is undertaken.
  • Upon completion of the refining stage, all excess residue is removed from the surfaces using Gyeon Prep. Any dust residue is blown out from the rest of the vehicle using compressed air.
  • Final inspection of the finish on the paint.
  • The vehicle is rewashed and dried.
  • A sealant or wax applied to the paint. (Extra layers and upgrades are available at an extra cost.)

At this point, the vehicles paint is 90-95% free of defects. The gloss, depth and clarity are at optimum levels. Now an extra set of processes are undertaken to improve the rest of the appearance of the vehicle.

  • Alloy wheels are sealed and tyres dressed.
  • All glass cleaned and a hydrophobic sealant applied.
  • All exterior plastics dressed.
  • Exhaust tips and other chrome surfaces polished and sealed.
  • Final inspection and then to await presentation to the client.

Time for this process is usually 4-7 days.
